Home goods store FrancFranc will open their Masterrecipe branded flagship store in a traditional townhouse in Kyoto’s Gion district today.
The Kyo-machiya townhouse has a total floor area of 112 sqm (1,205 sq.ft). This follows a trend of Japanese and overseas brands and boutiques seeking out Kyoto’s traditional homes to open stores. Others have included Issey Miyake, Leica, Hublot, and Hermes.
The Masterrecipe brand was established in 2017 and focuses on products made using traditional methods. This is the first Masterrecipe store to be opened in Japan.
